FIXED: Backend and API for a smart GPS tracker platform

IoT · high load · geodata

Context

How the project started

Alongside its accessory business, FIXED develops technology projects. Its GPS tracker platform required a system capable of receiving and processing device location, status and movement data over mobile networks and IoT protocols.

A key requirement was resilience under high-frequency communication — in some scenarios hundreds of requests per second — while providing a reliable API for mobile applications.

Solution

What we solved

In an IoT system, fast telemetry intake must be separated from subsequent processing so communication peaks do not block the entire operation. The architecture therefore uses asynchronous processing, robust data storage and a clear API layer.

The same API serves mobile applications and other parts of the platform. Users can manage devices, view history and work with alerts, while the operational layer handles telemetry and data management.

Key benefits

  • Data ingestion from a large number of devices
  • Processing tracker location, movement and status
  • History and geodata processing
  • Public API for FIXED mobile applications
  • Alerts, device management and accounts
  • Architecture designed for high load

Technology & architecture

  • IoT communication layer
  • High-performance backend and data queues
  • REST API for mobile applications
  • Database and geolocation services
